About this event
The heart of the festival. From around six in the morning the Ma Song enter a trance at the shrines and undergo the piercings the festival is known for; by 07:30 the procession is moving through the old town, deity palanquins carried between shophouses while firecrackers burst at their feet. Thalang Road and the Clock Tower are the best vantage points. Intense, and not for everyone.
