North American cities are not cheap to visit and the catalogue's cheap end is thin: the median experience in New York costs $60 and in Toronto $76. The list below is the exception. It is every experience in our partner's catalogues for Glentio's seven North American cities, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Toronto and Vancouver, that costs $30 or less and is rated 4.7 or better by at least 500 people, as read on October 1: nineteen listings from 1,463. They are ranked by rating, then by how many booked. Prices are "from" prices in US dollars, as the catalogue lists them, including the two Canadian cities.

What the list says
Nineteen listings under $30 in North America against fifty-five under €20 in Europe, from a catalogue a fifth the size: the cheap end is thinner here, and it is museums and short rides rather than walking tours. New York has seven of the nineteen, Toronto four. Las Vegas has one and it is a cinema ride. The walking tour, the thing that makes Europe cheap, barely exists under $30 on this side; the two New York walks are the only ones.
For Americans
Everything on this list is in a city with a direct domestic flight, and the cheapest city break by this measure is Toronto, where four of the entries cost $18 to $28 and the dollar goes further.
For Europeans
Prices above are in US dollars; your card converts and the rate on the day is what you pay. Dates on American posters are month first: 10/12 is October 12. The ESTA, or a Canadian eTA for Toronto and Vancouver, is applied for on the official government site, never through a reseller. The tip is not optional on a tour.
For visitors from East Asia
Mid-October is after Golden Week and the ride and museum queues are shortest. The walking tours run in English; the listing names any other language. US sales tax is added at the till and there is no general tax-free refund for visitors.
