October is the end of Miami's hurricane season and the start of its good months: the humidity drops, the water is still warm, and the Beach's own free programme starts up again. The bookings below are from our partner's Miami catalogue, 232 experiences as read on October 1, ranked by how many people booked and how they rated them. Prices are "from" prices in dollars. The free evenings around them are the City of Miami Beach's, on Glentio's Miami page today.

The water
- Biscayne Bay millionaires' homes sightseeing cruise, from $20. Rated 4.5 by 9,300, the second-most-booked experience in the city and the cheapest hour on this page: the bay, the islands, the houses. Take the late-afternoon departure.
- Sightseeing speedboat tour, from $52, 45 minutes, 4.6 from 2,100, the same bay faster.
- SUP and kayak exploration, from $99, 4.7 from 1,500, the best-rated thing on the water, and October is the month the mangroves are bearable.
The Everglades, in the right version
- Everglades National Park airboat tour and wildlife show, from $32, 4.5 from 8,000. The better-rated of the two big airboat listings and the one that is inside the national park.
- Everglades airboat, wildlife exhibit and round-trip bus, from $50, 4.1 from 11,100. The most-booked experience in Miami and the lowest rating on this page; the difference is the bus, which is the reason people book it and the reason they mark it down. If you have a car, take the first.
- Wildlife island walk and floats, from $79, 4.9 from 760, the best-rated tour in the catalogue, a small-group alternative to the airboats.
The city on foot and on a wall
- Little Havana food walking tour with tastings, from $70, 4.9 from 1,300, the best-rated food experience in the Miami catalogue: Calle Ocho, the cafecito windows, the ventanitas, with someone who knows which one.
- Wynwood Walls skip-the-line entry, from $12, 4.6 from 980. The cheapest ticket in the city and the one afternoon that needs no booking except on a weekend.
A day in the Keys
- Key West day trip with hotel pickup, from $40, 4.3 from 3,900. The most-booked day trip, a long bus down the Overseas Highway, and the rating reflects the hours on the road.
- Key West with dolphin spotting or snorkelling, from $68, 4.5 from 550, the better-rated version, which spends the Key West hours on the water rather than Duval Street.
Booking happens on the partner's site; Glentio earns a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Free around it: Miami Beach's October
The City of Miami Beach runs a free programme that is better than the price suggests. The SoundScape Cinema Series projects a film onto the 7,000-square-foot wall of the New World Center on Wednesday nights at 20:00: Selena on October 7, and The Addams Family on October 28, three days before Halloween. Sunday October 11 at 18:00 has the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series in Lummus Park on the sand side of Ocean Drive, and Cuerda and Clave, Cuban piano and Puerto Rican percussion in The Betsy's piano bar, from 18:00 to 23:00. Thursday October 15 is the Culture Crawl: the South Florida Symphony's woodwind quintet at The Bass, doors at 18:00, and Les Greene and the Swayzees working through Motown and early rock and roll at the open-air Bandshell from 19:00. On Sunday October 25 The Bass opens for a free community day, 12:00 to 17:00. Book the bay cruise for a Wednesday afternoon and the film is the evening.
For visitors from the US
The bay cruise, the Little Havana walk and Wynwood are a weekend without a car; the Everglades and the Keys each take a day with one. The Culture Crawl on October 15 is the Thursday to be on the Beach.
For Europeans
Dates are written month first: 10/11 is October 11. Prices are in dollars before tax except the partner tickets, which are all-in. Miami is the standard start or end of a Florida trip; New York and Chicago run the same format if the trip goes north.
For visitors from East Asia
Mid-October sits between Golden Week and Thanksgiving, so flights are at their calmest. Cards and phones work everywhere; there is no VAT-style refund in the US. The tours run in English and Spanish; the SoundScape films are in English with the city's lawn in front of them.
