Things to do in Europe

The 37 most-booked tickets in Europe and North America, ranked by rating: Schönbrunn for €16, the Acropolis

Every entry ticket with 5,000 reviews and a rating of 4.7 or better across Glentio's 37 cities, ranked by rating then bookings, from the Orsay at €13 up.

Tickets are what most people book, and the one kind where the rating says least, because a 4.7 for the Van Gogh Museum is a verdict on the queue and the app, not on Van Gogh. So this list takes the tickets everyone buys and sorts them by what the buyers said. It is every entry ticket in our partner's catalogues for Glentio's 37 cities with at least 5,000 reviews and a rating of 4.7 or better, as read on October 1: 37 listings from 1,343 tickets, ranked by rating and then by how many booked. Prices are "from" prices in euros, or US dollars where marked. Where a city sells the same door two ways, the better version is named.

Rated 4.8: the nine worth the premium

Rated 4.7, by how many booked

What the list says

Nine of the 37 are rated 4.8 and seven of those nine come with a guide; of the 28 at 4.7, most are a door and an audio guide. The pattern across Vienna, Rome, Madrid and Athens is the same: the version with a person is rated a tenth higher than the version with a queue skipped, and in Vienna and Athens it is also the cheaper one. Nothing under 4.7 with these review counts is missing from the page because the threshold excluded it; the big decks and the Everglades are in the North America most-booked list.

For Europeans

The three cheapest 4.8s, Schönbrunn at €16, the Acropolis at €29 and St Peter's dome at €33, are the three best-value tickets on the continent by this measure. The Sagrada Família, the Vatican and Versailles sell out their slots a week ahead in October; the museums take bookings the morning of.

For visitors from the US

Prices are in euros except New York; your card converts. Dates on European posters are day first: 10/10 is October 10. The CityPASS habit does not translate: Europe's equivalents are per city and the tickets above are cheaper bought one at a time than any pass that includes them.

For visitors from East Asia

Mid-October is after Golden Week and the slots are easier. The guided tours run in English and the listing names any other language; the museums' own audio guides are at the door. Tax-free forms apply to shops, not tickets.
