Bucharest in October: Dracula's castle in the right version, the Parliament, a 4.9 walk, and the bears
Which Transylvania day to book from Bucharest, the Palace of Parliament ticket, the city walk rated 4.9 by two thousand, the bears day and a market walk.
- For Europeans
- For visitors from the US
- For visitors from East Asia
Bucharest's paid list is one castle day sold five ways, one building, and the cheapest excellent walking tour on Glentio. October is the month to do the castle: the Carpathians in colour, the bears still out, and Halloween week at Bran, which is the one time the Dracula framing stops being silly. The bookings below are from our partner's Bucharest catalogue, 190 experiences as read on October 1, ranked by how many people booked and how they rated them. Prices are "from" prices in euros; the city is in lei. Bucharest's own free October listings are not yet on Glentio, so this is a bookings story; the city page is here.

Transylvania, in the right version
- Dracula's Castle, Peleș and Brașov day trip, from €15. Rated 4.5 by 12,500, the most-booked experience in Bucharest and the cheapest line on this page; a big coach, a long day, and the price explains the rating.
- Day trip to Dracula's Castle, Peleș, Cantacuzino and Brașov, from €28, rated 5.0 by 550, the best-rated day trip in the catalogue. Thirteen euros more for a smaller group and a third castle; this is the version to book.
- Top Gear road and wild brown bears day trip, from €49, 4.6 from 1,400. The Transfăgărășan, which closes for winter at the end of October, and a bear hide at dusk. Book it for the first half of the month.
The building, and the city on foot
- Palace of Parliament tickets and guide, from €33, 4.3 from 4,000. The second-largest administrative building in the world; the rating is the queue and the bag check, not the rooms. It is the one booking here that needs a passport at the door.
- City highlights guided walking tour, from €18, two and a half hours, rated 4.9 by 1,970, the best-rated experience in the catalogue with more than a thousand reviews and the one that explains the city the Parliament flattened.
- Half-day bike tour, from €35, 4.9 from 480, the parks and the boulevards.
- Market tastings and hidden corners, from €85, 4.9 from 410, the best-rated food experience, the Obor market and the places behind it.
Booking happens on the partner's site; Glentio earns a small commission at no extra cost to you.
How to fit it in three days
Day one: the walking tour in the morning, the Parliament after lunch. Day two: the three-castle Transylvania day. Day three: the bears, or the bike and the market walk if the trip is short. The bears day and the castle day both leave before eight; book the walk for the day you arrive.
For Europeans
Bucharest is a short flight from most of the continent and the cheapest castle day on this list. Book the three-castle version and the walk; the Parliament takes bookings the day before. Budapest runs the same format up the Danube.
For visitors from the US
Dates on posters are day first: 31/10 is October 31. Prices above are in euros; the three-castle day costs about a cinema ticket and a lunch at home, which is the point. Nothing here needs a car.
For visitors from East Asia
Mid-October is after Golden Week and before the Christmas season. Romania applies a minimum purchase per receipt for a VAT refund; ask for the tax-free form at the till. The partner tours run in English; the Parliament tour has English and French departures.
