About this event

Did the Amber Road ever exist? Archaeologist Rūta Kačkutė takes the best-known story of ancient European trade apart using the actual finds, asking how amber, people and ideas really moved between the Baltic and the Roman south. Curator Gytis Grižas then brings out one object: amber beads from an island in Lake Sartai.

Why we picked it

Free, specific and object-led — a National Museum and Vilnius University series that deliberately picks subjects nobody else lectures on, with a real artefact produced at the end.

Free entry

Nemokamai — free, explicitly stated by the museum ('Renginys nemokamas!')
