About this event
Seven folk-music groups and the Patjanko family band gather in the Kokaru Hall at Mežaparks for the first-ever Grand Ziņģes Concert. Ziņģes are Latvian narrative songs — love, work, family, the bathhouse, the occasional disaster — carried in families and folklore groups rather than on records. Afterwards the evening turns into a folk disco with DJ rabziz.
Why we picked it
The first edition of a concert built around a living Latvian song tradition, and Riga's clearest free cultural fixture this month.
