About this event
Every 9 October Leipzig turns its city centre into a trail of light for the night that changed Germany. In 1989 more than 70,000 people marched peacefully here for freedom. The 2026 edition strings an open-air photo exhibition on Grimmaische Straße, the Faces of Light installation, a dance performance on the Markt and a candle-lit '89' at Thomaskirchhof, with eyewitness interviews along the way.
Why we picked it
