About this event
Leipzig marks 9 October 1989, when more than 70,000 people demonstrated peacefully for freedom, with a route of light through the old centre. This year's programme runs from an open-air photo exhibition on Grimmaische Straße and a light installation at the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum to a dance performance on the Markt, a candle-lit "89" with eyewitness interviews at Thomaskirchhof, and video installations at the former Stasi headquarters.
