About this event
Ekkehard Maaß sings Wolf Biermann's songs without Biermann — a concert from someone who belonged to the East Berlin circles the songs came out of. Staged in the German National Library the day before Leipzig marks the anniversary of the 1989 demonstrations, it lands in exactly the right week. Free, and explicitly no booking needed.
Why we picked it
Dissident GDR song performed by a contemporary witness, free, in the run-up to Leipzig's 9 October anniversary.
