About this event
Fishing boats tie up along Market Square for a week and sell straight off the deck: salted, pickled and spiced Baltic herring, archipelago bread, and the woollens and crafts that have grown up around the trade. Held in Helsinki since 1743, it is one of Finland's oldest continuously running public events. Browsing costs nothing.
