Lower Manhattan Cultural Council hands over its Governors Island studios for an afternoon: residency artists open their doors, show what is half-finished and unresolved, and talk about it. Getting there is half the pleasure — a short ferry across the harbour to a car-free island, the Manhattan skyline receding behind you the whole way.
