The after-work version of New York's best free outdoor secret. Twice a week through late August the Downtown Boathouse opens its Pier 26 racks on weekday evenings, so you can swap the commute for a paddle as the light goes gold over the Hudson. Gear and volunteer guidance included, no booking, no charge. Arrive early — the sign-up line closes when demand peaks.
