Since Berlin's Museum Sunday was cut, Spandau's culture office has kept its own version going: on almost every first Sunday of the month the 16th-century citadel opens free. That covers the whole site — the medieval Juliusturm, the permanent and temporary exhibitions, and the ZAK centre for contemporary art in the old barracks — plus a no-registration family programme from 3pm to 5pm for ages four up.

A whole fortress-museum complex, free for the day, on a specific dated occurrence — and it now exists precisely because Berlin's city-wide free museum Sunday was scrapped.
Freier Eintritt
Free entry on (almost) every first Sunday of the month, covering all exhibitions. Guided tours at 2pm (English-language and costumed German versions) cost €4.50 each and are not included.
