The courtyard of the former Stasi headquarters in Lichtenberg turns into an outdoor cinema for August, screening documentaries and features that dig into East German history and the lives it shaped. The setting does half the work: watching films about surveillance in the yard of the ministry that ran it gives the programme a weight no ordinary open-air screen can match.
