Riga has the cheapest paid list on Glentio, and the ratings do not drop with the prices: a boat for €7, a walking tour for €10, a concert for €15. October is the last month the canal boats run and the first the art-nouveau streets are empty enough to look up. The bookings below are from our partner's Riga catalogue, 98 experiences as read on October 1, ranked by how many people booked and how they rated them. Prices are "from" prices in euros. Riga's own free October listings on Glentio are thin this month, so this is a bookings story; the city page is here.

The water, for the price of a coffee
- Riga historic boat tour with audio guide and the captain's stories, from €7, 4.7 from 1,700. The cheapest experience in any catalogue Glentio holds, and rated higher than the electric canal and river boat, from €12, an hour, 4.5 from 2,090, which is the most-booked. Take the €7 one.
The old town, on foot
- Guided old-town walking tour, from €14, two hours, 4.7 from 1,420, the most-booked walk.
- Old-town walking tour with a local guide, from €10, rated 4.9 by 450, the best-rated tour in the catalogue and four euros cheaper. Take this one.
- House of the Black Heads entrance, from €10, 4.6 from 1,320. The rebuilt guild house on the town-hall square; the cellar is the original.
- Concerto Piccolo and a cathedral visit, from €15, 4.6 from 420, the best-rated concert, in the Dome cathedral with one of the largest organs in Europe.
The market, on a plate
- Central Market and traditional food tasting tour, from €36, 4.7 from 600. The five Zeppelin hangars that hold the biggest market in the Baltics, with someone to explain the rye bread and the smoked fish. The twenty-sample version, from €36, 4.7 from 490, is the same price with more tasting and less walking.
The day out
- Hill of Crosses and Jelgava, from €38, 4.8 from 1,830. The most-booked day trip: the Lithuanian pilgrimage hill of crosses, over the border, with Jelgava's palace on the way.
- Hill of Crosses, Rundāle Palace and Bauska, from €99, 4.9 from 280, the better-rated version, which adds the baroque palace that is the reason most people take the day.

How to fit it in two days
Day one: the €10 walk in the morning, the Black Heads house, the €7 boat in the afternoon light, the cathedral concert at dusk. Day two: the market walk in the morning, then the Rundāle day if you have it, or the art-nouveau quarter on your own if you do not. The whole paid list above, done in full, costs less than one Vatican tour.
For Europeans
Riga is a short flight from most of the continent and the cheapest weekend on this list by a distance. Book the Rundāle day; everything else takes bookings the same day. Helsinki and Stockholm run the same format across the Baltic.
For visitors from the US
Dates on posters are day first: 10/10 is October 10. Prices above are in euros and every one of them is less than a cinema ticket at home except the Rundāle day, which is about a nice dinner. Nothing here needs booking more than a day out.
For visitors from East Asia
Mid-October is after Golden Week and before the Christmas market on the Dome square, which opens in late November. Latvia applies a minimum purchase per receipt for a VAT refund; ask for the tax-free form at the till. The partner tours run in English; the concert needs no language.
