Las Vegas is the one city on Glentio where almost everything worth doing is a ticket, and October is the month to buy them: the desert days are in the seventies, not the hundreds, and the canyon tours run in comfort. The bookings below are from our partner's Las Vegas catalogue, 302 experiences as read on October 1, ranked by how many people booked and how they rated them. Prices are "from" prices in dollars. There is no free tail to this story; the city's own listings on Glentio's Las Vegas page are the partner catalogue.

The Grand Canyon, in four versions
The most-booked thing in Las Vegas is a day somewhere else, and the choice is between the West Rim, which is close, and the South Rim, which is the canyon in the photographs.
- Grand Canyon West, Hoover Dam, Skywalk option and two meals, from $99. Rated 4.8 by 4,000, the best-rated of the coach days. The West Rim with the glass Skywalk, the dam on the way, and both meals in.
- Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam view, lunch and Skywalk options, with WiFi, from $99, 4.6 from 6,400, the most-booked version, and nearly the same day with the dam seen from the bus.
- Grand Canyon West and Hoover Dam with breakfast, from $132, eleven hours, 4.7 from 1,900.
- Grand Canyon helicopter landing tour with champagne, from $499, rated 4.9 by 1,200, the best-rated experience in the entire catalogue and the expensive way to do it in a morning. If the trip has one splurge, the reviews say it is this.
The other canyons
- Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend with lunch, from $160, 4.7 from 2,400. The slot canyon and the river bend, a very long day in Arizona, and the light in the canyon is at its best in the October noon.
- Valley of Fire State Park with a deli lunch, maximum thirteen, from $99, 4.9 from 800. The best-rated day trip in the catalogue and the one an hour from the Strip: red sandstone, petroglyphs, a small group, back by mid-afternoon. In October the park is walkable; in July it is not.
Shows and the Sphere
- The Sphere Experience: The Wizard of Oz, from $124, 4.5 from 2,850. The 1939 film remade for the largest screen on earth; the rating is honest about the price.
- Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil, from $108, 4.8 from 1,500, the best-rated show ticket in the city.
- FlyOver flying theatre, from $29, 4.7 from 790, the cheap half-hour on the Strip that people rate above the expensive ones.
- STRAT Tower observation deck, from $27, 4.5 from 1,700, the Strip from 350 metres, best at dusk.
Booking happens on the partner's site; Glentio earns a small commission at no extra cost to you.
How to fit them in three days
Day one: the Valley of Fire in the morning, the STRAT at dusk, a show at night. Day two: a Grand Canyon day, West Rim for the coach, South Rim by air if the budget allows. Day three: Antelope Canyon if you have the stamina, or the Sphere and FlyOver if you have not. The canyon days all leave before seven; book the show for the night you are not getting up early.
For visitors from the US
Everything here leaves from the Strip hotels. The Valley of Fire and the West Rim coach are the two days worth the early start; the Sphere is the one ticket to buy on the day you book the flights, since the Wizard of Oz slots fill weeks out.
For Europeans
Dates are written month first: 10/12 is October 12. Prices are in dollars before tax except the partner tickets, which are all-in. Las Vegas is the standard add-on to a Los Angeles trip and Chicago or New York run the same format if the trip goes east.
For visitors from East Asia
Mid-October sits between Golden Week and Thanksgiving, so flights are at their calmest. Cards and phones work everywhere; there is no VAT-style refund in the US. The canyon tours run in English with multilingual audio on the larger coaches; the shows need no language.
