Sofia's City Garden has been turned over to a Bavarian autumn festival for a fortnight, with long tables under the trees, live bands each evening, German kitchen staples and a run of family entertainment. Entry to the site costs nothing and the gates stay open eleven hours a day, so it works equally as a lunchtime detour through the park or a full evening out. The final weekend closes on 4 October.

A two-week, all-day free-entry site right in the centre of Sofia is unusually generous for a city whose listings rarely state admission at all. It is also the only October-dated free event the municipal calendar confirms in words.
