The first Friday of September and the Whitney is free again from five until ten. Autumn hangs are usually in place by now, the terraces are still warm enough to linger on, and the Meatpacking District outside is at its liveliest. Book the free timed ticket ahead: capacity is capped and these evenings fill fast once the season restarts.
