The national holiday opens with military and display aircraft running the length of the Danube past the Parliament building, following the flag-hoisting ceremony at eight. It is the quietest hour of an otherwise packed day to find a good riverside spot, and the low passes over the water between the bridges make for the morning's best photographs.
