About this event
At five o'clock on 1 August the sirens sound across Warsaw and the entire city stops — traffic, pedestrians, conversation — for a minute of silence marking the hour the 1944 uprising began. The central commemoration takes place in Freedom Park beside the Warsaw Rising Museum. Whatever else you plan that day, be outdoors at 17:00. Nothing else in Europe feels quite like it.
