About this event
The Mazarine marks four hundred years since the death of Théophile de Viau, the libertine poet tried for his verse and turned into a symbol of dangerous free thinking. Manuscripts and early printings trace how a Gascon Protestant became the leading modern poet of his day and then a target. The reading room itself — France's oldest public library — is half the visit.
