About this event
The LES Ecology Center sets up in Tompkins Square Park with shovels and a pile of finished, city-made compost, and you bag your own. Bring a sturdy container or sack. It is a small, practical neighbourhood ritual rather than a spectacle, and a straightforward way for East Village growers to stock up before autumn planting.
Why we picked it
Bring-your-own-container compost in one of Manhattan's most-used parks - free, local and useful rather than decorative.
Free entry
Organiser states the centre "invites neighbors to pick up FREE bag-your-own compost". Bring-your-own-container event; shovels provided.
Registration
