About this event

For eight hours the city takes the cars away. Park Avenue and its northern extensions become one long car-free corridor for walkers, runners, cyclists, skaters and anyone who fancies doing yoga in the middle of a road. Rest stops along the route stack up free fitness classes, performances, interactive art and giveaways; this first Saturday doubles as the HARLEM WEEK kick-off.

Why we picked it

The purest expression of New York in summer — miles of empty asphalt, free classes on it, and no ticket of any kind. The Harlem overlap makes 1 August the strongest of the Manhattan dates.

Free entry

Entirely free and open to all. Individual rest-stop activities are free; some pop-up classes may operate on a first-come basis.

Registration
