About this event
An inaugural walking adventure that sends you across the George Washington Bridge on foot with a paper map, hunting landmarks and overlooks in Fort Washington Park, the Palisades and Fort Tryon Park. Three staffed hubs hand out free maps; you set your own pace. Run jointly by the Riverside Park, Palisades Parks and Fort Tryon Park conservancies, for all ages.
Why we picked it
A first edition, and an unusually good use of a bright October Saturday — leaf colour on the Palisades, the walk across the bridge, and no phone required. Nothing else in the window gets you out of the city on foot for free.
Free entry
Organiser describes it as "This free cross-river walking adventure and scavenger hunt" and states that Ramblers pick up "a free map at any of three staffed hubs".
Registration
