Artist Pablo Helguera discusses his long-running Instituto de la telenovela — a project begun in 2002 that treats the Latin American soap opera as an institution worth archiving — with Julieta González of the Wexner Center and MoMA media curator Ana Janevski, moderated by Americas Society associate curator Tatiana Marcel. Programmed alongside the Telenovela exhibition on Park Avenue, and pitched at anyone interested in how mass melodrama shaped a continent's self-image.
