About this event
Walk up to the Dredgers' boathouse on the Gowanus Canal, sign a waiver and get into a canoe. No booking, no experience and no fee: families, solo paddlers and, in the club's own words, intrepid first dates are all welcome. Dress for the weather and bring water. Seeing Brooklyn from canal level is a properly strange and memorable hour.
Why we picked it
Free canoeing inside Brooklyn with genuine walk-up access — an outright unusual thing to do, and it needs nothing booked in advance.
Free entry
Organiser titles the event "FREE Walk-Up Paddling" on its own calendar and detail page. Minors require a guardian's signature and all participants must sign a waiver.
