About this event
Volunteers at the Downtown Boathouse hand out sit-on-top kayaks for 20-minute paddles in the protected Hudson River embayment north of Pier 26. No experience is needed, though you must be able to swim; life vests, basic instruction, lockers and changing areas are provided. Children 12 and under share a double kayak with an adult.

One of New York's most memorable free experiences: getting out on the Hudson with a skyline view. This is the final day of the 2026 season.

Must be able to swim; waiver required each time.
