About this event
Sebastian Masuda, the designer widely credited as the leading figure in Japan's kawaii subculture, joins FIT professor Yuniya Kawamura for a conversation that treats cute as politics rather than decoration — an explicit, nonviolent mode of rebellion comparable to other Japanese youth movements that assert identity through dress. A signing of Kawamura's new Anthem Press book on Masuda follows. Held in the Museum at FIT's amphitheatre, a block from the Fashion District.
