About this event

Poets from around New York, many of them Brooklyn locals, read on the open Gowanus shoreline. Up to four featured readers take ten to fifteen minutes each, then an open mic opens to the first ten people who sign up on the day, one poem apiece. It happens outdoors beside the canal, with the EPA clean up going on across the water.

Why we picked it

An outdoor reading series on a working canal shoreline, with an open mic anyone present can sign up for on the day.

Free entry

Organiser states "Participation is free but we encourage donations to sustain the efforts of the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club".
