Echevarría's debut about two Roma teenagers falling in love on the edge of Madrid, filmed largely with non-professional actors. It won a Goya and caused a row, and it is screened free in the outskirts it depicts. The non-professional casting is what gives it force, and Echevarría has since become one of Spain's most watched directors. First of three in the season.
