About this event
The mummified right hand of Hungary's founding king is carried out of St Stephen's Basilica and through the streets of Lipótváros in a procession that has anchored the national holiday for centuries. Clergy, honour guards and pilgrims follow the reliquary around the basilica quarter. It is the most solemn hour of the day and easily the most atmospheric thing to watch for nothing.
Why we picked it
A centuries-old religious procession through central Budapest that visitors can simply walk up to.
