The Conservatoire's jazz department turns the Joseph Jongen auditorium over to collective improvisation: large-group free playing where structure emerges in the room rather than off the page. Brussels has a deep improvised-music scene and this is where a good deal of it is trained. Unpredictable by design, and short enough to risk on a Friday evening.
