About this event
Every La Mercè poster since 1979 — the year the festival was reborn under Barcelona's first democratic council — hung together in the Marès museum's Gothic-quarter courtyard building. Read in sequence they track how the city chose to picture itself: fireworks and giants giving way to illustration, stage design and moving image. It is a short, sharp graphic-design show that doubles as a social history of the festival.
