Riga's left bank plays its right bank in a rolling 24-hour basketball match on the embankment, a city-birthday fixture that treats the sport as civic theatre. Teams rotate through the night while the surrounding festival programme carries on around the court. Free to watch, and the atmosphere after dark is markedly better than the daytime session.
