The official kick-off of Madrid's fortnight of castizo street festivals, with this year's opening speech given by representatives of SAMUR-Proteccion Civil. Expect chulapos and chulapas in full traditional dress, an organillo, and the square filling well before the speech. From here the party spills into Embajadores, Lavapies and La Latina for the next twelve days.
