Barcelona sits just outside the path of totality, but the castle terrace still catches a 99.7 percent partial eclipse, the closest the city has come in more than 120 years. The Ajuntament extends the castle's opening hours for the evening, hands out certified viewing glasses and runs a short explainer alongside the observation. No bookings are taken, so arrive early.
