About this event
A high-energy afternoon of steel pan bands from across the UK takes over the Southbank Centre's riverside, part of Steel Scenes — a weekend marking 75 years since the Trinidad All Steel Percussion Orchestra first played on the South Bank during the 1951 Festival of Britain. Curated with Just Vibez, the line-up runs outdoors beside the Thames with pan orchestras, soloists and pop-up moments drawing crowds off the riverside walkway.
Why we picked it
A genuinely free, open-air showcase of a landmark anniversary in British Caribbean music, on one of London's busiest riverside sites — high walk-up appeal and strong summer-Saturday timing.
Free entry
Free, unticketed outdoor performance on the Riverside Terrace. Separate indoor concert 'Steel Pan Reimagined' in the Royal Festival Hall the same day is paid (£20+) and is not part of this listing.
