Latvian makers fill Dome Square for the birthday Saturday with linen, amber, woodwork, ceramics and food, eleven hours of it, in the shadow of the cathedral. Craft markets here are the real thing rather than souvenir stalls, and the square's scale means you can circle it several times without covering the same ground twice.
