A volunteer-run boathouse lends out sit-on-top kayaks, vests and paddles for short supervised trips in the calm water north of Pier 26. Beginners are the point rather than the exception, and staff talk you through the paddle stroke on the dock. Weeknight sessions finish for the season on 27 August, so August Thursdays are the last chance.
