The Downtown Boathouse opens its dock all day Sunday, handing out sit-on-top kayaks to anyone who can swim and sign a waiver. Trips are short and stay within a marked embayment, which makes it ideal for first-timers and children accompanied by adults. Pair it with a walk down Hudson River Park afterwards.
