About this event
Purcell's compact Baroque tragedy — shipwreck, sorcery and the famous lament "When I am laid in earth" — gets an hour-long open-air staging at Wood Quay, narrated in English between scenes. It is the second of four Thursday lunchtime performances in Dublin City Council's Opera in the Open season, and the running time is designed to fit a lunch break with a picnic.
Why we picked it
Early English opera performed free in the open air beside the Liffey, in a format deliberately built for first-timers.
