For three days Bratislava rewinds to Prešporok, the coronation city of the Hungarian kingdom. This year the crowned monarch is Maria Theresa. Expect a jousting tournament on the Danube embankment, falconers, drummers, flag-wavers and period dancers, then a costumed coronation procession winding down from the castle to Main Square for the ceremony itself, followed by a Sunday of fencing shows and puppet theatre for families.

The outdoor street, castle-courtyard and Main Square programme is free to attend. Themed guided city tours, the SNM Historical Museum exhibitions on the castle and the cocoa tasting are separate and ticketed.
